How long do orchids stay in bloom?

I bought an orchid plant a little over a month ago. It had three blossoms, now two more have opened but the first three are all wilty and dying. Is that normal or should they have lasted longer? i have it in a big chinese orchid vase that is probably 2 gallon, i put it in the sink and add pour a liter or two of water over it about once a week or so, have i not been watering it enough or the right way?How long do orchids stay in bloom?
They say it should last 2 to 3 months. A flowerist suggests to spray mist of water on the bark/roots and leaves everyday. Your watering seems appropriate, but first 3 being wilty and dying seems too soon. Do you know how long it has been blooming when you bought it? Is orchid in a bright indirect light? Depends on the humidity and heat in your house, you may want to modify the watering frequency and don't get the flower wet.How long do orchids stay in bloom?
Typically an orchid will hold the bloom for a very long time - this is because it is waiting to be pollinated. So we can be talking months.

Of course they can not last for ever and when you have an orchid that produced several blooms on one stem, the oldest do tend to die and the new ones open.... this gives a better chance to the new ones of being pollinated. If you watch - they will fade and bloom in sinc - just hoping to catch a pollinators attention over a longer time frame.
It varies greatly by species. A phaleanopsis could stay in bloom for months. A cattleya probably 2 weeks. Is there a tag on your plant? From the size of it, I'm guessing it's a cymbidium...
UNTIL THE FLOWERS DIE.
