When boganvilla is exposed to cold will cutting the brown branches back make it bloom better?

I live in houston; It got in the 20's here for about 2 days. I noticed the boganvilla is bare and the branches are brown. do i need to cut them back? When boganvilla is exposed to cold will cutting the brown branches back make it bloom better?
Before you start trimming, make sure that your area will not get frosty again. Otherwise, wait until the frosty season is over, then you can trim the brown, dead, branches. In the meantime, if you still expect frost to happen, protect your bouganvilla plant with burlap or equivalent to prevent it from further damage.
